Elsa Frahm Mauch

b. January 5, 1892d. 1969

Biography

Elsa Clara Hattie Frahm was born January 5, 1892, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Maximilian 'Max' Frahm and Clara Melcher Frahm. By 1909, the Frahm family was living at 316 Euclid Avenue in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. At 17, Elsa mailed a postcard to a friend in Chicago showing a view from the Butler County Courthouse, marking where she lived (X) and where her father worked (O). She was a soprano soloist at the First Christian Church and performed with the Poplar Bluff Choral Club, including at the Lyceum Theatre in July 1910. In September 1911, her engagement to William H. Mauch was announced at a surprise gathering at the Frahm home on Euclid Avenue. They were married November 29, 1911, at the First Christian Church. The family eventually left Poplar Bluff, and Elsa spent much of her later life in Michigan, where she died in 1969 at the age of 77.
