Biography

Maximilian 'Max' Frahm was a resident of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, living at 316 Euclid Avenue with his wife Clara Melcher Frahm and daughter Elsa. He was the director of the Poplar Bluff Choral Club and worked as a foreman at the Dalton Adding Machine Company, whose early operation was located at the northeast corner of Main and Pine Streets. In 1909, his daughter Elsa mailed a postcard marking the Dalton building with the note 'Where my Pa works.' Max participated in the city's musical life, performing with the Choral Club at venues including the Lyceum Theatre. The Frahm home on Euclid Avenue was the site of a surprise gathering in September 1911 announcing Elsa's engagement to William H. Mauch.
