A Discussion About The Iron Mountain Depot

📣 Historic Poplar Bluff Update! 🚂

Last Wednesday, we had the wonderful opportunity to meet with the board of the Iron Mountain Depot (Poplar Bluff Historic Train Depot) and hear about the work going into this piece of our city’s history. We also shared some of our ideas and hopes for the future of the Historic Poplar Bluff downtown area.

We are genuinely excited about the possibility—though not guaranteed—of continuing to work with them on future endeavors, and we look forward to sharing more details if it comes to pass.

There are a few upcoming events that should be happening, so we will watch for more information to share with you soon!

About the Iron Mountain Depot:

Built in 1910 by the St. Louis, Iron Mountain and Southern Railway, it was the first railroad to come through Poplar Bluff and has served our community for over a century.

The depot was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998, and local groups have been actively working to restore and preserve its historic charm ever since.

Volunteers and community supporters continue restoration efforts with the goal of returning the depot to full functionality while honoring its original character.

Through grants, fundraisers, and community support, they’ve already accomplished major improvements like historically accurate roofing and staircase reconstructions—and they’re continuing into interior and structural renovations.

🌟 We’re inspired by the work they are doing to revitalize history, preserve community heritage, and keep this iconic building moving forward.

Stay tuned for more updates! We can’t wait to share what’s next.
