The Rodgers Theatre Project: Research Nearly Complete
By Historic Poplar Bluff
For nearly a year, Historic Poplar Bluff has been working on what has become one of our largest research projects to date.
What started as a simple effort to learn more about the Rodgers Theatre quickly grew into a much deeper exploration of I. W. Rodgers, his family, and the people connected to one of Poplar Bluff's most recognizable landmarks.
Along the way we've uncovered hundreds of newspaper articles, advertisements, photographs, construction reports, business records, and historical details that have helped bring this remarkable chapter of local history back to life in ways we never expected.
Perhaps the most surprising discovery has been just how much information still exists. Nearly every time we thought we had reached the end of the story, another article, photograph, or forgotten detail appeared and opened an entirely new avenue of research.
The project is now entering its final stages, and we are excited to begin sharing the results very soon.
For everyone who has followed our theatre posts, contributed information, shared memories, or worked to preserve the Historic Rodgers Theatre—thank you. Your passion for local history has helped make this project possible.
We still have some editing ahead of us, but we're looking forward to sharing a story that we believe many local history enthusiasts will enjoy.
Stay tuned. More details coming soon.
