1Born: October 8, 1933; Deceased: December 11, 1949. Tragedy has befallen our Senior High School with the death of a friend and schoolmate, Alice Lee Sparkman. She was a member of the senior class and was very active in school affairs. In her years at Senior High she became a recognized part of the life of this institution, and her death has left a place that cannot be filled. One less voice is heard in the murmur of our halls. And there is one chair that is always vacant. But why? Why did it have to be her? There are hearts asking that question—hearts in which she was held dear. And there is but one answer which we can give—that it is all a part of God's plan. That is all that we may say. Sometimes God must take away a loved one in order to bring souls to the realization that there are such things as Death and Eternity, and that one must reckon with them. May God use Alice's death to turn someone's thoughts back to the death of Another, and reveal to that one that faith in the Lord Jesus Christ brings salvation and peace.
