Criterion Theater
Criterion Theater
Historic movie theater located west of Broadway and Pine, separate from the Rodgers Theatre.
The Story
The Criterion Theater was one of Poplar Bluff's early movie houses, operating as a separate establishment from the later Rodgers Theatre. Located on the west side near the Broadway and Pine intersection, the Criterion served moviegoers during the early days of cinema. The theater was part of the entertainment district that developed in downtown Poplar Bluff, which by 1910 supported its own newspaper, movie theater, and opera house.
