Railroad YMCA (RRYMCA)
YMCA facility serving railroad workers, connected to the train depot by a historic staircase.
The Story
The Railroad YMCA (RRYMCA) was a vital social and recreational facility for railroad workers in Poplar Bluff. Built near the Iron Mountain Train Depot (constructed 1910), the RRYMCA was connected to the station by a distinctive staircase that also led to downtown hotels and restaurants. This staircase served as an important link for travelers and railroad employees, providing easy access between the depot and downtown services. Over the years, the staircase and RRYMCA building became landmarks of the railroad era. The Iron Mountain Depot organization has worked to restore the historic staircase that once welcomed travelers into downtown Poplar Bluff.
What's There Now
