Iron Mountain Depot, Street View, August 1985
About this photograph
A color transparency slide showing the Poplar Bluff Iron Mountain Depot from the street and parking side, at an angle that captures both the front façade and the length of the platform side. The image documents the depot's exterior condition, signage, platform configuration, and surrounding parking area as it existed in August 1985. Visible signage includes a rectangular white "POPLAR BLUFF" station sign on the front of the depot, a vertical safety poster reading "SAFETY / YOUR FAMILY'S FUTURE / DEPENDS ON IT" on the brick wall, a "NO PARKING ON PLATFORM" sign near the lower corner, and a red "STOP / PRIVATE PARKING CO VEHICLES ONLY" sign on a chain-link gate on the right. A maroon-colored vehicle is partially visible in the foreground, and a black industrial waste bin sits on the far left. The depot's wide overhanging roof is supported by heavy timber brackets. This photograph, paired with the trackside view (HPB-PHOTO-002A), provides complementary documentation of the depot building from two opposite perspectives on the same day.
