Iron Mountain Depot, Trackside View, August 1985
About this photograph
A color transparency slide showing the Poplar Bluff Iron Mountain Depot from the track side, looking down the length of the depot platform. The image documents the depot's exterior condition, paint treatment, wooden support brackets beneath the wide eaves, platform configuration, and surrounding railroad infrastructure as it existed in August 1985. A "POPLAR BLUFF" station sign is visible under the eaves on the left side of the building. Train tracks with gravel ballast run across the foreground. The ground floor section on the left is painted white with dark base trim; the rest of the building is brick. A vintage automobile is partially visible at the lower left, and wrapped white bundles or bags are visible behind a chain-link fence on the far left. This photograph provides valuable documentation of the depot building during a period when such ordinary views were seldom formally photographed.
