This surviving original volume is part of the Historic Poplar Bluff Collection and has been digitized as HPB-YB-1921 for preservation and public access. Published in 1921, the volume offers a glimpse into the history of Poplar Bluff High School and the community it served more than a century ago. The physical copy has a textured, aged cover with gold lettering and a circular Poplar Bluff High School emblem dated 1921. It is bound with cord threaded through the cover, a physical characteristic preserved in photographs of the artifact. Of particular interest is the handwritten inscription “Frankie Brickell,” which provides a personal connection to the volume's history. The inscription is documented as it appears; the identity of the writer and the circumstances of the volume's ownership have not been conclusively established. The original volume was acquired by Historic Poplar Bluff on October 3, 2026, and digitized on October 12, 2026. The digital reproduction retains the original page order and preserves handwritten markings, inscriptions, wear, discoloration, and other physical characteristics wherever practical. Minor adjustments to alignment, cropping, exposure, and contrast may have been made to improve readability. Early editions of The Bluff are valuable resources for researching the history of Poplar Bluff High School, its students, and the broader community. This 1921 volume contributes to the preservation of the school's early yearbook publications and provides an opportunity for former students' families, genealogists, and local historians to explore an important period in Poplar Bluff's educational history. The original scans remain the archival record. Separately enhanced or presentation-style cover images are intended for website display and promotion.
