The Bluff (1923) is the yearbook of Poplar Bluff High School, Poplar Bluff, Missouri. This surviving original volume is part of the Historic Poplar Bluff Collection and has been digitized as HPB-YB-1923 for preservation and public access. Published in 1923 as the fourth edition of The Bluff, the volume records the school, its students, school activities, and community during the early twentieth century. Of particular historical interest is an alumni section documenting graduating classes from 1894 through 1922. That continuous roster of former students provides opportunities to connect people with families, addresses, businesses, and other material preserved in the Historic Poplar Bluff Digital Archives. The original copy was acquired by Historic Poplar Bluff on October 3, 2026, and digitized on October 4, 2026. The volume is generally in good condition for its age, although the cover shows wear and damage, the binding hinges are broken, and the cover remains only partially attached. Those characteristics have been preserved in the digital reproduction. An inscription reading “Frankie ‘B’ / Jr. ’22–’23” appears in this copy. A possible connection to Frankie Brickell, identified in the 1924 yearbook, remains unconfirmed. The digital reproduction preserves the original page order and, wherever practical, the physical characteristics of the surviving book, including handwriting, signatures, inscriptions, markings, wear, discoloration, and damage. Only minor adjustments such as cropping, alignment, exposure, contrast, or color may be made to improve digital readability, following the same archival approach established for the 1929 and 1930 volumes.
