Faith's Business Equipment

Faith's Business Equipment, later advertised as Jim Faith's Office Supplies, occupied the storefront at 416 Vine Street from 1971. James H. "Jim" Faith became a longtime downtown Poplar Bluff businessman, and his company's advertising emphasized its longevity at the location, noting that the locally owned business had been in the same place for more than 48 years. Photographs from 1990 and 2005 show the familiar "JIM FAITH'S BUSINESS EQUIP." sign on the storefront with the old brick building above it. As late as 2019 the business was still listed at 416 Vine Street, offering office supplies, furniture and catalogs with free in-town delivery. Faith died in 2008, but the business continued under his name for years afterward, and for nearly half a century his storefront was how another generation of Poplar Bluff residents knew the former livery stable and automobile garage.
