Historic Poplar Bluff Joins Bluff's All American Weekend at the Iron Mountain Depot
By Historic Poplar Bluff
Historic Poplar Bluff was honored to participate in Bluff's All American Weekend at the historic Iron Mountain Depot in downtown Poplar Bluff, marking our first public event featuring a full display of preservation-themed merchandise, historical reproductions, postcards, signs, engravings, and community engagement activities.
The event brought together residents and visitors from across the region to celebrate America's 250th anniversary while creating an opportunity of supporting one of Poplar Bluff's most important historic landmarks. Throughout the day, guests enjoyed breakfast and lunch service, a cruise-in just across the street, with other vendors and family activities nearby, and opportunities to explore the timeless 1910 Iron Mountain Depot.
For Historic Poplar Bluff, the event served as an opportunity to showcase a growing collection of locally produced historical memorabilia designed to celebrate and preserve the stories of our community. Visitors had the chance to view our new depot postcards, engraved wooden keepsakes, commemorative signs, historical reproductions, and other preservation projects currently under development.
One of the funner attractions at our display was the Historic Poplar Bluff Plinko Board, where visitors could try their luck for postcards, discounts on preservation merchandise, gift card drawing entries, and other prizes while learning more about local history and preservation efforts.
Perhaps most rewarding was the opportunity to meet members of the community who stopped to share memories, family stories, and personal connections to Poplar Bluff's historic sites. These conversations continue to remind us that preserving local history is about more than buildings and photographs—it is about preserving the stories of the people who built this community.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Stephanie Knoppe and the Poplar Bluff Historic Train Depot Board for inviting us to participate in this year's event. Their dedication and countless volunteer hours continue to ensure that the Iron Mountain Depot remains an important landmark and gathering place for future generations.
The Iron Mountain Depot has welcomed travelers, railroad workers, and visitors to Poplar Bluff since 1910. More than a century later, it continues to serve the community in a new role—as a place where local history can be shared, celebrated, and preserved.
We are grateful to have been a small part of that mission and look forward to participating in future events while continuing our efforts to preserve Poplar Bluff's rich historical heritage.
